A New Year and New Classes Coming Soon!!

Happy 2017!!
Welcome to the new Year!

New after school class sessions in Fused Glass, Jewelry and Eco Art are starting the week of January 18th!

Please click on the links below for more information about the classes and to sign up- These classes are designed to foster creativity, experimentation, confidence and fun while building coordination, design sense and skills with specific tools, glass and other materials. I am excited to bring new projects to all of my classes this year and to integrate ideas and materials from different classes- such as introducing more wire work into the fusing classes and more upcycling projects into glass and jewelry. I can't wait to see what evovles this year. Check out past posts for more pictures and info about classes!

All Materials (glass, paint, glue, glitter, beads, wire, tools, findings etc.., kiln firings and healthy snacks are included in the fee and are completely provided by me. I have a huge collection of supplies, upcycled treasures and materials for students to work with. I also happily accept donations of many sorts. A broken small toy, plastics, odds and ends...throw aways of all sorts can make for great art! If anyone has bubble wrap or packaging that is something I am always looking for.

Other News and Reflections...
-The 2nd annual Fused Glass Ornament making workshop at the Larkspur Recreation Center was a huge success. There was a great turnout for this family workshop. So great to see parents and kids working together creatively. The ornaments came out beautiful. Check them out!
There were over 125 fused glass ornaments made. Every piece carefully loaded in the kiln, finished with string and wrapped up carefully- all before Christmas and Hanukkah. Whew!!

- Other news.. The auction piece for Glenwood Elementary came out great. The auction is in the Spring. I will remind folks as we get closer to the auction.
- Professional and Personal development...I am excited to start a 13 week training using expressive arts and drama to build on my conflict resolution and peace building skills and to explore generational trauma. I hope to integrate some of the material and projects that I will be doing into my workshops. I am sure this will be a challenging and rewarding winter and spring as I learn some new skills and dive deeper into my artistic voice and also explore issues and themes that are confronting our country and world in these tumultuous times.
"It is your ability as a creative person to envision positive change that will make a difference."
Engaging in any creative process, as many studies show, is healing. I hope we will tap further into creative arts and use the magic of expressive arts to help heal our world. Maybe this sounds a bit dreamy and lofty, but I do feel deeply that there is not enough priority put to creative expression. I think this is a missing link, or a starved need and desire in many of our communities but it is essential to healing the current landscape of our time- We need more art,  in schools, in the workplace, in our parks....! More avenues for expression in all its forms. Meaningful, intentional, expressive, honest - not always pretty, sometimes mysterious - this process of making something that comes from within our spirits is a treasure and gift. We can be moved greatly by what others express and nature in all its wonderous glory, also gives us this gift of healing and connection. So much potential with the simple act of pen to paper, a dance, a walk in the woods, a sculpture,  a collage, a simple scribble...bypassing overthinking and judgement- getting to the heart- maybe there is a release, maybe just a little more inner space or maybe something came and went....so many benefits to allowing ourselves to be in a creative flow."Healing Art is being born as we speak. The concept is catching fire, is awakening in people's spirits…Artists, musicians and dancers are realizing their imagery has meaning….that their imagery heals them, others, their neighborhood, or the earth."
