This past fall was busy one. I introduced a new class to my after school program (oven baked clay time) to much popularity! The kids just loved the freedom to make whatever they could envision and many of them were able to incorporate my eco-art treasures to complete their projects. Building sets such as restaurants, dinosaur worlds, alien stations, minecraft worlds, playgrounds etc. This was my hope for the class but I really was not sure if students would take to the idea of building out from their clay creations because these projects take time and more then one class to complete. So the set building did not really begin in earnest until close to the end of the session. What I saw was an incredible amount of collaboration and excitement. Completely kid driven with imaginations on the loose! Some students were more interested in making jewelry and other figurines. One thing for sure, these classes were hubs of creative business and fun. I am happy to be offering clay time again this winter and spring.
Lastly, the year ended with my 3rd annual fused glass holiday ornament workshop. This year I held two workshops and ended up firing 170 or so ornaments in the kiln! These workshops are for the whole family and many have made this into a holiday tradition to be done every year. Check out some of these beautiful glass ornaments!!
